Abstract


The first chapter serves as a brief introduction for the BaoqingBamboo Carving，which Prospers in the central part of Changjiang area，and has enjoyed a history of more than 300 years. It inherits thecharacteristics from the Sichuan Bamboo Carving，and closely relates tothe Baoqing Bamboo Carving，one of the Four Great Bamboo Carvings inChina. With exclusive on-the-spot observation，the second chapterinspects Baoqing Bamboo Carving from both its natural and socialenvironment，and illustrates its history and the development，withemphasis on human factors which influence it most. The third chapterclassifies the theme，content，art features of the Baoqing BambooCarving. The fourth and the fifth chapters examine carefully the art featuresof the Baoqing Bamboo Carving from the aspect of patterns. The fourthchapter summarizes the Chinese tradition vision language marks found inthe Baoqing Bamboo Carving，and analyzes mark characteristics and thedesign constitution rules. The fifth chapter analyzes the Tinting rule of colorquantification and constitution and excavates the human connotation andthe region characteristics of Baoqing Bamboo Carving. With thecomparative method of non-historicity controls in the culturalanthropology，the sixth chapter compares Baoqing Bamboo Carving withJiaqing Bamboo Carving，Jinling Bamboo Carving，Zhepai Bamboo Carving in the same theme，furthers with a discussion on the historicalbackground and the developing process of Baoqing Bamboo Carving，onits kinship with other Bamboo Carvings，and its role in the entire ChineseBamboo Carving family as well. Through the study on the patterncharacteristics of the Baoqing Bamboo Carving，the thesis analysissystematically and thoroughly the formation and the artistic values of theBaoqing Bamboo Carving，and explore ways for its survival anddevelopment，so as to provide effective conservation for this art.Meanwhile，it also attempts to found a direction for traditional vision art.
