Abstract


Since the last century, Henri Holec formally proposed the concept of \The growing emphasis on changes in the teaching mode, emphasizing from teacher-centered to student-centered change and develop learners' autonomy in this process. In this paper, the concept of self-learning, combined with the of hearing learning characteristics and teachers in the role of self-learning, empirical research aimed at the Vocational School English Teaching self-learning ability. The experiment lasted one semester, Daqing Petroleum Institute, Qinhuangdao Branch of the two classes of 90 students for the study. In order to study the cultivation of self-learning on students' learning habits and hearing results, the following article will discuss three issues: vocational school students self-learning situation; whether through self-learning ability improve students' English listening level; teacher's role should change. The authors first conducted a questionnaire survey for students to understand the students' self-learning level. On this basis, the authors designed a teaching experiment. The first two classes before the experiment the hearing level test results show that the two classes of students hearing about the same level. For experiments, by encouraging students heard practice listening strategies training, complete hearing Diary, QQ group or e-mail to answer questions in a timely manner, to interact with students, supervision and guidance. For the control classes, teachers are no longer special training and supervision. After the test, the experimental classes and control classes hearing test, two classes before and after the experiment to detect presence or absence of significant differences in hearing results. In this experiment, survey, teaching experiments, interviews as a tool, using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, with the use of SPSS 17.0 to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the data analysis. Experimental results show that under the guidance of the concept of self-learning, hearing results of the experimental class and the control class, has been significantly improved; students' self-learning ability; teacher's role after the transition to play a better role. Thus, it is necessary to foster students' ability to learn English Listening Teaching in Higher Vocational School, is also effective. Although the experiment has achieved certain results and achieve the desired results, but there are still some limitations. Hope that this study will provide some help to the vocational school English listening teaching.
