Abstract


Web and multimedia technology is applied widely in instruction, which makes development of web-based distance education rapidly. Being a new education mode, the web-based distance education has become an important part of modern education system. The key point of web-based distance education is the construction of web courses, while in which the share of web courses is the best format of saving time and labor. Since there is no unified standard of education repository construction, which makes it very difficult for data exchange and therefore it results in the bolding up of information share between web course repositories.Launching on current exploiting problems of web courses, in this paper I educe that the database-based web course is a trend adapting the information society, then discuss the meaning and existing problems of content data exchange for database-based web course. XML has clear framework and self-description, which makes it suitable for data exchange. Based on the research of education repositories construction and standardization research work in the world, in this paper I design and develop the platform of web course data exchange based on XML which conforms to the CELTS metadata specification and content package specification. Tying to use it we may realize data exchange for database-based web course between heterogeneous web course databases.It’s a helpful experiment of data exchange in the web-based distance education.
