Abstract


This paper discusses the importance of cultural awareness in language learning , the basic idea is to learn a language is to learn culture , based on the principle of cultural import set designed to develop students' cultural awareness , to explore how the process of language teaching , from different levels to develop students' cultural awareness . Through a series of activities , cultural awareness training to become an integral part of the entire teaching activities , so that students can speak right decent discourse depending on the locale , allow students more effectively into the communicative competence of language ability . English-Chinese cultural differences is an objective reality . Therefore , a clear connotation of \No doubt about the importance of language education and cultural education , but the culture and education can not be simply interpreted as the import of the target culture and native culture, education should also be included . The culture of the target language and native culture compatible simultaneously can be achieved through a variety of ways and means . In the study of cross- cultural communication , lack of understanding of the cultural attitudes of the target language may lead to pragmatic errors and communication failures , and the degree of understanding of the communication system of signs often depends on the level of understanding of cultural symbol systems . This article pointed out that in the second language in Intercultural Communication from the restraining effect not only the target language culture , in fact, the mother tongue culture is also involved in the communication, and has a very important role . This means , language exchanges bring cultural exchange and integration , there is every reason to look forward to the birth of a new world language and culture .
