Abstract


It is human instinct that everyone is eager for health. In the course of exploring body and mind health, the human beings will form some perspectives to treat health, and rebuild these values on health. As one part of values, health values are conceptualized as a kind of internal criterion and subjective attitude which are used to set up the health aims (including physical, mental and social health) and execute the health manners (such as thought developments, knowledge acquisitions, behavior executions). Health values are individual stable beliefs about health. It is dynamic for health behaviors. This study aims to develop an Undergraduates’ Health Values Questionnaire.Based on overviews of former researches and the investigation of open-ended questionnaire, the theoretical hypothesis was constructed. The factor analysis of the preliminary questionnaire formed the formal questionnaire. After investigating 1216 undergraduates with the formal questionnaire, the model turns out to be legitimate and fitting by means of the path analysis and socio-demography. The Undergraduates’ Health Values Questionnaire is examined by many indexes. The main results of this study are as follows:1. The undergraduates’ health values are a multi-level and multi-dimensional model. At the first level health values consist of values of health goals and values of health means.
