Abstract


The metaphor Research has been the focus of attention of the linguists. The traditional metaphor concept only metaphor as a linguistic phenomenon, the concept of contemporary metaphor metaphor as a way of thinking and reasoning. Conceptual metaphor theory is applied linguistics research made quite a lot of the results, however, the systematic study of the conceptual metaphor of the few economic discourse. With China's rapid economic development, the chapter as a carrier of information have been involved in all aspects of economic life This article focuses on the economic presentation of newspapers, magazines and television programs in the economic class news reports, collected a total of 149 in English instances involving finance, foreign trade, company management, marketing and other topics. Using language qualitative analysis and co comparative study, the purpose of this research are: (1) by a large number of instances of the discourse of contemporary English and Chinese economic analysis, summarized four conventionalized conceptual metaphor. (2) from the total when the angle of these metaphorical mapping carried out a comparative study of English and Chinese. This paper first reviews the the metaphor the course of research and development, then describes the main points of the theory of conceptual metaphor: the distinction between conceptual metaphor and metaphorical language, conceptual metaphor into orientational metaphor entity metaphor and structure metaphor three categories, and to explore the main features of the conceptual metaphor - systemic and cultural consistency. Next, the authors detailed analysis of four conventionalized conceptual metaphor in English and Chinese economic discourse: up and down orientation metaphor \research. Studies the following conclusions: (1) The study proved that the basic point of view of the theory of conceptual metaphor, and that abstractions metaphor formation and understandable.
