Abstract


Tragedy consciousness emerges when human beings feel that they are oppressed and threatened by nature and society. It is based on the fact that people’s lives are full of contradictions both outside and inside, and they are being tortured both bodily and mentally.Xiao Hong’s lonely life journey that was troubled continuously determines her scope and her appreciation of the beauty.This thesis discusses the tragedy consciousness in Xiao Hong’s novels from three aspects.Part Ⅰ analyses Xiao Hong’s revelation of female’s tragedy dusting from three aspects that are society nature and culture.Part Ⅱ analyses the characteristics of Xiao Hong’s tragedy novels. Her novels revealed people’s unresponsiveness and indifference, described her unique feelings to death and her pursuit of the spirits.Part Ⅲ explores the reason why Xiao Hong formed her tragedy style subjectively and objectively.
