Abstract


Acting like a functional element, entrance space play an indispensable roll to a building, needed attentive consideration during the course of architectural design. In some cases it even becomes the determinant. Accompanied with the human society evolve from low-grade to high-grade, the content and form of entrance space diversified as material and psychic demand continuously expanding. It has been a great puzzle hovering over many people’s mind that how to design the humanely entrance space that in deed suitable to the need of people’s emotion and spirit. Outstanding design of the entry space could contribute to the configuration of building, better the adjacent environment and then mentally influence people, higher the quality of life. Consequently it is full of meaning probing into the design of entrance space thoroughly.This thesis were divided into five chapters. The first chapter started from confining the range of entrance space, then brought forward the purpose, significance and academic frame of the research. The second chapter analyzed its phylogeny, contrasted and classified the conformation in terms of the ancient period of external and internal and the modern times. The third chapter concluded the mainstream trend of transformation in contemporary days and sum up the character. Proceed with the basic patterns, the fourth chapter discussed the skills and technique of entrance space design concretely and practically. From the point of environment theory, the last chapter studied its meaning and function to surrounding quality, further advanced the ingression from a architectural element to a broad conception in city design.Combined with excellent examples of famous architect home and abroad, this thesis push forward its research to the skills and techniques of entrance space design. The abundant photographs being inserted increase the maneuverability of design vividly and visually in hope of enlighten the design of entrance space.
