Abstract


Based on the methodology of literature review, investigation, mathematical statistics and interviews, the paper has analyzed the current situation and existing problems of basketball elective in universities of Xinjiang. In terms of pedagogic, logic and related theories of physical education, the paper devotes to the suggestions for the sustainable development of basketball. It is hoped that the paper can provide the theoretical basis for relative departments, the conclusion is being listed below: Firstly, it is investigated that most basketball teachers are middle-aged male teachers whose academic degrees are mainly bachelor’degree, and their scientific research is limited. Furthermore, the number of professional basketball teachers is behind the number of students.Secondly, although the basketball elective teachers are unavoidably affected by the unsatisfactory teaching condition, seldom chances for advanced studies and unsettled personal profits, they have active attitude for teaching and receives high evaluation from students in turns.Thirdly, the students are active in basketball electives. However, the number of male students is larger than females; the number of minority students is less than Han students, which all influence the class effectiveness.Fourthly, college basketball elective is in accordance with the physical teaching concept, but the teaching content has neglected the deepness and wideness of theoretical teaching. On the one hand, it is good for class organization. On the other hand, it cannot meet the needs of students with different levels.Fifthly, besides the traditional teaching methods, it is hard to put some advanced and modernized teaching means into the college basketball elective.Sixthly, most basketball teachers just give final scores by combining the students’physical ability and performance in class, but neglect considering other elements, such as the improving levels, affection and ideological cultivation, etc.Lastly, generally speaking, the college basketball elective in Xinjiang are comparatively successful in terms of right guiding thought, clear teaching aim and task, good teaching quality evaluation system and active teaching attitude of teachers, which all devote to the sustainable development for college basketball elective.The current paper devotes to give some suggestions: firstly, to enrich the faculty is a way to improve the whole quality of physical teachers. Secondly, it is vital to keep a balance between the number of teachers and students. Thirdly, a sum of minority students should be considered. Fourthly, to have a clear teaching plan and effective method in mind is beneficial to raise the teaching quality. Fifthly, we should further make better to judge the basketball elective course in Xinjiang. Lastly, much money must be put into making the playing ground and equipments better.
