Abstract


Since the first bank card was issued, the bank card industry has been with20years of development in China, by years of industry market cultivation consumers’pay habits have gradually transferred from the cash payment to the card payment, and the market scale is expanding continuously. International experience has shown that the development of bank card industry can guide and stimulate the consumption, promote the growth of national economy. In the period of complete opening of China’s financial industry, facing the fierce competition and challenges from the international bank card organization, how to improve the ecological environment of the domestic bank card market, to strengthen the competitiveness of market operators and to speed up the pace of industrial development are current problems that urgently need to be solved.By the research of the scale, structure, policy and environment of issuing market and acquiring market of bank card, this paper points out existing problems of the development process in this industry, introduces the present situation and experience of bank card industry in developed countries and regions, and proposes improvement measures of the development to China’s bank card industry.The first chapter introduces the research background, purpose and significance of this paper; researches and discusses domestic and foreign scholars’ recent theoretical research for issuing market, acquiring market and the operation mode, providing theoretical support and valuable experience for this paper. The second chapter introduces the industrial structure of Chinese bank card industry, analyzes different interest demands and operation cost of various operators, and indicates the relationship among industrial consumers, supplier, middlemen and managers. The third chapter briefly introduces the development course of domestic bank card industry. The industrial development scale and the trend of the structure for nearly five years are analyzed here, and also the current situation of the development of industry is summarized. The fourth chapter puts forward existing problems in the domestic bank card market including poor acceptance environment, imbalanced market structure, low industrial profit and the innovation business which needs to be improved, and deep reasons of problems are analyzed. The fifth chapter points out the domestic market development gap comparing with the international bank card development from the market scale, structure, characteristics, product, maturity, subjects of management and supervision system. The sixth chapter puts forward some countermeasures of China’s bank card industry development--we need to further improve the bank card acceptance environment, accelerate the development of the credit card business, strive to improve the industry benefit, accelerate business innovation and so on.
