Abstract


High power electron accelerator is the key installation which supplies electron beam to desulfurize from factory smoke, it is required to give stable DC (direct current) of 500 mA and can operate for long time continuously. The core technology of this installation is forestalled by Russia and Japan company for the moment.We do special research on some correlated technology to master key technology, and effectively realize desulphurization from factory smoke. This paper is the outcome of the fundamental theory and experiment on the high current electron gun and accelerating tube.First we build experimental apparatus , and the beam collector is a water-colling Faraday bucket in consideration of the high power of DC beam. Following experiment falls into two successive phases, which explores experimentally the DC emitting characteristic of single crystal LaB6, and experiments on the design parameters. Having knowledge about character data of DC operating and the effect on emitting ability of vacuum, then there is experimental foundation for electron gun design and operation.We do some consideration to achieve a electron gun of high current and long-life, and display the design of heating structure, which is key component of a electron gun, and the critical point of clamp component. Numerical calculation gives electron gun geometry which has an effect on perveance and beam emittance, and show clearly the way of electron gun design. Design a model electron gun according to the DC emitting characteristic, and the measurements accord with our expectation.There are detailed discussion about high voltage accelerating tube designs, which include the electrode structure, the electrode material, the insulator and its material. We calculated the electric field distributing when size of the accelerating tube is different, and supply references for the design of accelerating tube. Then point out the effects of connecting joint definitely on focusing. To have enough emitting current and improve focusing, advance a opinion, which is using focusing node and heightening the extracting voltage of anode. Finally simulated the dynamics of whole beam, and the results shows that the chosen parameters meet the cooperation with the following system.
