Abstract


As the result of certain times, mega-city-square benefits people little ascribing to excessivespace, functional deficiency and unattractiveness. This thesis tends to use the theory ofdaily life for reference to analyze and explains the phenomenon of mega-city-square, thusindicates daily life is the continuity of the same individual, thus is the general designationof all kinds of activity directly related to the existence of it, purposes maintaining thesurvival and reproduction of the individual. It includes daily consuming activities, dailyintercourse activities and daily notion activities on which one rely to maintain the basicexistent. All these activities closely relates to daily living space. We should reconsider therelationships between city environment and urban daily life, then renovates themega-city-square to multifunctional urban daily living space with amenity, hospitality andethnic self-identity. After analyzing the example of Xinhua Square in Huhhot, the writerverifies the directional effect of the concept and method, and gives attention to the successand failure.
