Abstract


Due to the globle economic crisis of 2008, the diffusibility of banking risks has become the public awareness. Thus, it is extremely important to improve risks management level of commercial banks. Nowadays, the majority study on risks management of commercial banks in China is still focus on technical level rather than human level. This paper is going to shift the focus to human level, i.e. the employees in the department of risk management in commercial banks. Based on the method of competency modeling, this paper is going to find out the competencies of the employees in the department of risk management in commercial banks.First of all, this paper gives a brief reivew of competency research both at home and abroad, which includes the development and the approaches of competency model. Also, this paper defines its optimization orientation from reviews of the comepetncy model’s application in commercial banks.Then, this paper discusses the industrial characteristics of commercial banks and the responsbilities of risks management, so as to make clear of the duties of the employees in the department of risk management in commercial banks. Thereafter this paper constructs and exams the competency model of the employees by questionnaire, which composed of industrial consciousness, volitional quality,vacational skills and professional knowledge.Finally, it puts forward suggestions on the application of the competency model in order to improve the competencies of the employees in the department of risk management in commercial banks.
