Abstract


With the general increase in Chinese College Students' English level, the question is no longer plagued her English reading vocabulary. Most of them can read the article, but the student-based reading, students activate their cognitive schemata, background knowledge, cultural knowledge, students actively construct reading discourse semantics, total could not escape the influence of the traditional reading mode. Meanwhile, in the last two decades, cognitive linguistics research in China, especially in social constructivism research and development soon. Use of the latest achievements of modern linguistic theory and social constructivism scholars to guide the teaching of English reading, and in order to analyze the Chinese students' English reading, and propose solutions. However, the effectiveness of teaching practical applications of these theoretical results one has yet involved. The paper uses social constructivism semantic construct mode guidance of non-English majors in English Text reading teaching to the students as the main advocate active construction semantics, able to finish reading task. By experiment early experimental group and control group students' scores to identify the impact of the traditional reading mode of English reading. A system intensive training for these differences, the experimental group to identify the root causes of these differences, so that the students awareness to get rid of the traditional reading mode shackles. After four months of training with specific experimental test shows the experimental group and the control group was significantly different, also confirmed the experimental assumptions before: social constructivism semantic construction mode is introduced to the teaching of reading practice to help students get rid of the traditional reading mode shackles, to improve their English reading ability. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter gives an overview of the background of the foreign language teaching and research, the problem of the status quo of China's English teaching and research. Chapter II, respectively, from behaviorism, cognitive psychology, constructivist point of view on the importance of social constructivism semantic construct mode in English learning, and discuss a semantic construct definitions and college English teaching. The third chapter introduces the research method, first through the survey found that the problems of students in reading, and then through the implementation of different teaching methods in teaching experimental classes and control classes, prove the social constructivism semantic construction mode validity. The fourth chapter focuses on the role of the of social constructivism semantic construct mode of Foreign Language Teaching.
