Abstract


In today’s supply chain environment, the Internet plays an increasingly important role.It becomes the cooperation and communication basement between the enterprises.The supply chain collaboration has become a new supply chain management strategy. The grid which known as the "third-generation Internet technology", aims at connecting all the computing resources together by high speed networks to complete the computing assignment and share resources among the wide area.The resources are different in structure and distributed in many places .The rise of grid technology is bound to play a crucial role in the sharing and coordination of information in the supply chain.Vendor Managed Inventory is a new and effective inventory policy of the supply chain. How to achieve real-time sharing of information between the upstream and downstream enterprises is a very important part of the implementation of VMI.This thesis aims to apply the grid ideological to the VMI.After analyzing the inadequate of traditional technology applied on the VMI, explores the timeliness and effectiveness of the VMI information sharing on the grid environment.Firstly, the basic concepts and situations at home and abroad of Grid and VMI are briefly introduced.Secondly discusses the impact of grid technology on business synergies as well as the promotion of supply chain agility. Thirdly by analyzing a traditional VMI case, illustrates the advantage of grid technology on the VMI implementation .Finally proposes a grid-based VMI basic framework,a detailed analysis of the notification and subscription in the VMI application ,describes the implementation of VMI in a grid environment and in the OGSA specification Globus Toolkit 3 supports the VMI.
