Abstract


In this paper, the combination of questionnaires and interviews with poor English grades in the first semester of the 2002 school final exam 180 outstanding students and English 20 students made ??a survey of the major factors affecting students learning English . English learning from the analysis of the survey results to identify the factors that have a direct impact or indirect impact , and take some measures to try to improve teaching methods, to strengthen the cultivation of students ' ability to learn and improve the quality of English teaching in school , but also improve the English proficiency exam pass rate , and achieved good results . The content of investigation include : the impact of the students learning motivation and degree of motivation, English learning achievement ; learning attitude , learning interest and emotional impact of English learning achievement ; the learners whether to adopt learning strategies which learning strategy , learning methods adequacy of English learning achievement ; individual learning ability and cognitive style , study habits , the original foundation and learning needs of English academic and educational environment , external factors such as the English academic impact. The results show that the priorities of the students' academic performance and poor both intellectual factors and non- intellectual factors . Both students intrinsic factors , but also the environment, the impact of external factors . And the degree of the influence of different factors on different students . So we targeted taken some measures to improve teaching , to explore the main methods to improve their English learning achievement : to help students build positive mental set to learn English ; correct English learning attitude , inspire English learning motivation ; cultivate interest in learning English ; encourage students to use appropriate learning strategies ; efforts to create a good learning environment and learning atmosphere for ; help students form a good psychological characteristics of personality ; cultivate self- learning ability .
