Abstract


The Internet has experienced explosive growth in the past ten years , has fully proved the success of its design . However, with the expansion of the number of Internet users , network congestion problems are more serious. For example , due to queue overflow , Internet routers will drop about 10 percent of the packets . Jacobson since 1988 , since the concept of congestion , congestion control is of great concern , a variety of congestion control theories have been proposed . Judging from the current situation of TCP AIMD congestion control strategy played a crucial role in the normal operation of the Internet . Router congestion control is currently a hot research topic . A large number of video-on-demand , distance learning, video conferencing and other real - time streaming media applications increased in recent years , these real-time streaming media applications delay - sensitive and does not require reliable transmission , usually using the UDP protocol for transmission . In these applications because the UDP protocol itself no congestion control , congestion control is necessary. Add to congestion control can reduce packet loss rate, streaming media applications still relatively smooth run in the congestion state so as to improve the QoS of streaming media applications , on the other hand also helps alleviate network congestion in streaming media applications . This article discusses two commonly used method for the the UDP application of congestion drive : Based on the packet loss rate and RTT - based algorithm driven and pointed out their shortcomings . On this basis , proposes a receiving end through the one - way delay congestion prediction algorithm ( Adaptive One Way Delay of Congestion Control AOWDCC ) . It is proved that asynchronous clock ( sending and receiving end the respective clock ) mode AOWDCC correctness . Compared with the first two congestion - driven mechanism , AOWDCC algorithm to shorten the maximum congestion feedback time interval to determine the real - time congestion greatly enhanced . Other traditional TCP congestion mechanism AIMD sent in the congestion window halving the practice has failed to meet the requirements of real - time media stream load smoothing , we propose a control mechanism based on a linear function of the congestion level to dynamically adjust the transmission rate , the smooth sending rate was adjusted. The last NS simulator , packet loss rate - based congestion control based the RTT congestion control and AOWDCC of algorithm performance simulation, verification the AOWDCC superiority .
