It can be frequently met in the chemical production that the components to be separated have a relative humility which approaches 1 or form a azeotropic system in such case a special distillation is needed to perform the separation. Azeotropic distillation is one of them. Owning to the predominant advantages in separating azeotropic and close-boiling point mixtures, batch azeotropic distillation is being paid more and more attention. In this paper the study on the whole process of batch azeotropic distillation was carried out in a laboratory column; Then a new model was put forward for the process of homogeneous batch azeotropic distillation; Finally the separation of n-hexane and ethyl acetate was tested with an industrial column in a way of batch azeotropic distillation. In this paper, the study was carried out to investigate the selection of entrainer and evaluate the effect of entrainer ratio and reflux ration on the column performance. The experiment showed that when entrainer ratio was 1.15 and reflux was 3, the yield of products was high. A new model was put forward. Reboiler, trays, condenser were composed azeotropic distillation tower. The bubble method and Newton-Raphson method were combined for the calculation of the tower. When the condition of operation was rational, the result of simulation was convergence with rapid speed. The model was useful for the operation of batch distillation. The separation of n-hexane and ethyl acetate was tested in an industrial scale column. In the same time it was validated the results of the laboratory experiment.
