Abstract


Urbanization is the historical process of transformation from traditional rural society to modern urban society, and it’s the intricate transitional process of economic and social system in city. Urbanization is affected by industrial structure、 economic development, further more, it is restricted by institutional setting. The thesis focuses on the relation between institutional setting and urbanization, the author points out the institutions is deep-seated reason of affecting urbanization in china and put forward material advice of institutional innovation by deeply analyzing the institutional setting and institutional obstacle of urbanization in china.The thesis is made up of five chapters. In chapter 1, the author systemically outlines the researchful status quo of institutional setting of urbanization in china, and points out researchers should systemically analyze the affection of institutional setting for economic and social system; In chapter 2, the author mostly discusses the bidirectional relation between institutional setting and urbanization. The author thinks that urbanization is deeply affected by institutional setting, but institutional setting is not the direct drive of urbanization. The author thinks that institutional setting impulses urbanization by increasing the functioning efficiency of drive system. At the same time, urbanization reversely improves institutional setting. In Chapter 3, the author mostly reviews the institutional setting process of urbanization in china, and anatomizes how the institutional setting affects urbanization in china. The author thinks that the formation of urbanization institutional setting from the top down results from Chinese historical and practical reasons, but the institutional setting already becomes the main obstacle of urbanization in china. In chapter 4, the author analyses the affection of main institutional setting (urban development policy, registered permanent residence institution, land institution, urban constructing investment institution and urban culture institution) for urbanization in China, and puts forward the material advice about institutional innovation. In chapter 5, the author sums up the central viewpoint of the thesis and reflects the deficient aspects.
