Abstract


32 Bit multitasking Symbian is a mobile devices operating system can support GPRS, Bluetooth, SyncML, and 3G and a standardized open platform which is suitable for intelligent terminal. This design is based on the 3rd edition s60. By extending the function of the original terminal and developing audio stream recorder in intelligent terminal, it can record normal voice or the voice call and then store the audio data in mobile station as file format.The development environment is composed of ActivePerl 5.6.1, jre, s60 sdk, Carbide C++v1.2, and audio format, audio sample rate and the way of generating mask supported by Symbian. By using the pattern of MVC and Engine, it can separate the business logic form user interface which clarifies the software structure. In the user interface layer, the current view is popped from the view stack that its items are generated by user interface. In the view layer, the view is generated by system user interface, that consist of menu and status bar which defined by resource file and system control. In the Engine layer, it defines recording and playback of the Audio, the selection of the Audio and the access methods of the audio file. The format of audio streaming that applies in recording and playback is PCM rather than original PCM 16. The audio stream is compressed into ARM format and saved as file format. When saving or retrieving the audio stream, it must access through the buffer.The user interface has some features, which provides a user interface for displaying information and allows the user to interact with the system; responses system startup and user-initiated events; saves or restores the application data; identifies itself uniquely to the framework and so on. These features are achieved by the view, documents, applications, and application UI.
