Abstract


EU’s East Enlargement is one of the most important international political events after the end of the Cold War, which has exerted significant impact on current international politics. EU’s East Enlargement is not an isolated political event, but related to other major and vital issues, which reflects the essence of international relations and influences the future of international politics. The research paper is to analyze the political causes of EU’s East Enlargement from the angle of international politics. The author has the following opinions in the research paper. As a significant event of current international politics, EU’s East enlargement is inevitable. The collapse of bipolar system of international politics and the trend of multi-polarization are the background of EU’s East Enlargement. The development of European Integration which has continued for nearly half of century requires that EU become the role of integrating Europe with more supranational characters by enlarging. In a sense, EU’s East Enlargement is the requirement of European Integration. Because of the changes of international politics after the end of the Cold War and the increasing power and influence of EU, EU has its own more obvious and mature International Political Strategy which is aimed at the position as one important polar in the international politics. Unlike the former enlargements of EU, the essence of EU’s East Enlargement doesn’t exist in the economics, but in the politics and security. In fact, EU’s East Enlargement is the important step to execute the EU’s International Political Strategy. As the international politics changes and European Integration continues and deepens, EU’s International Political Strategy and the significance of EU’s East Enlargement in executing EU’s International Political Strategy would become more obvious and outstanding.
