Abstract


In the history of the Soviet Union, Stalin had performed immortal exploits, which is well known to the world and above suspicion. Meanwhile, Stalin, as the top leader, had made gross error for the country and the people. Therefore, Stalin has been becoming a disputed figure in the history of the Soviet Union and even of the world. Even now the dispute about the judging of Stalin’s merits and demerits is still on. The dissertation aims to study the historical lessons of appraising Stalin from the Communist Party of the Soviet Union or CPSU, make it a mirror of the Chinese people’s constructive road led by the Chinese Communist Party, and constantly remind us not to take the same disastrous road. The dissertation is formed with four chapters.Chapter One tries to introduce the occurrence and evolution of the issue of appraising Stalin. The 22nd CPSU National Congress became the beginning of reappraising Stalin and the beginning of negating Stalin within the CPSU, during the terms of Khrushchev, Brezhnev and Gorbachov, there was social phenomena of negation in varying degrees or total repudiation on Stalin.Chapter Two tries to expound the major issues of repudiating Stalin within the CPSU. The repudiating mainly focus on the following aspects: personality cult, the style of absolutism, the fault on agricultural policy and the fault on military strategies etc. the CPSU of post-Stalin period took the attitude of total repudiation in appraising Stalin, which can not treat the errors made by Stalin objectively, fairly and in a realistic way.Chapter Three tries to analyze the outcomes caused by appraising Stalin. The outcomes of repudiating Stalin totally are extremely serious. Repudiating Stalin evoked wide repercussions on the society, and people began to appraise Stalin and even the CPSU. During the course, the CPSU could not deal with the issue of appraising Stalin which greatly shake the pursuit of socialism to its foundations, and people began to lose confidence, and gradually negated the CPSU, negated the history of the CPSU,
