Abstract

Supported titanium catalyst modified with n-octanol was prepared for the coordination polymerization of butadiene and isoprene. Firstly, we studied the effect of modification conditions for supported titanium catalyst on the catalystic efficiency of polymerization of butadiene. Then we investigated the microstructure of polymer prepared by catalyst modified with different C8H17OH/Ti with FT-IR to ascertain the best modification condition that having highest catalystic efficiency and least gelatin. To begin with, TPB synthesized with traditional supported titanium catalyst was powdery resin at room temperature with high crystallinity, while the polybutadiene prepared with n-octanol modified titanium catalyst was elastomer with medium content or even high content vinyl. Improving the effect of modification could be carried out by aggrandizing modification temperature, modification time, as well as C8H17OH/Ti. Then more chlorine atoms contacted with Ti were substituted with -OC8H17, and vinyl content in polymer was improved. The best modification condition was C8H17OH/Ti 25, at 80°C for 30min. With the increasing of the C8H17OH/Ti, the molar fraction of 1,2-unit in the polybutadiene rose which was approved by FT-IR. When C8H17OH/Ti was higher than 15, high vinyl content polybutadiene could be carried out. Moreover, the effect of modification condition and polymerization
