Abstract

With the plan of central china’s growing up, the Hanzhengjie planning and reforming project is hotly processing in Wuhan city. During this course, as a result of lacking the guidance of mature city planning, many traditional streets and lanes disappeared. At the same time, the changing of industry structure leads to the drying up of Han River and the busier and busier traffic on the riverside road. Such developing condition gradually breaks the connection between the alley lanes and the dwelling barges on the docks of Han River. This article intends to find the source of Hanzheng traditional alley lanes ——Han River, and do some research on the factors that influence the development of alley lanes including the firsthand basic information about the docks of Han River and the dwelling barges. Benefit from some relevant cases studying, the article also reconstructs the overall relationship between the alley lanes and the river, brings forward the conceptual design for the renovation of traditional alley lanes and tries to conclude some measures for renovation. This article is a rough investigation on the traditional streets and lanes, docks and dwelling barges of Hanzhengjie from five aspects: the exterior environment, the layout, the functions, the assistant facilities and the activities. Analyzing the merit and shortcoming of the traditional streets and lanes of the Hanzhengjie, it puts forward the rough and overall renovation speculation. On this foundation, choosing the Quanlong lane and its relative fishing shipside as the main investigation object, the article investigates the Quanlong lane further from five aspects including peripheral environment, building conditions, population composing, assistant facilities and activities inside lanes. Thorough analyzing the investigation data and drawing lessons from the typical related case of the renovation of traditional streets and lanes, it puts forward the renovation strategies of those traditional streets and lanes. Under the guidance of these strategies, it emphasizes on studying buildings in the traditional united rows of Lifen lanes and the related culture of the fishing boat, docks and the fishers. A conceptual design plan is also put forward, which is expected to build a compound business street including shopping, dwelling, visiting and recreation with the motif of fishing culture. It’s also expected to recover the streets and lanes of Hanzhengjie, the dock and the Han River into an integral whole space relation as they once were, and finally realizing the overall renovation and reuse of the Quanlong lane. According to the research of the Quanlong lane, the design experience of the rehabilitation and reuse, the article brings forward some suggestions on the renovation of the traditional streets and lanes of Hanzhengjie from two levels including theoretical research and practical design methods at the end.
