Abstract


In recent years, with the rapid development in the field of general linguistics , psycholinguistics , and cognitive psychology , second language acquisition research focus from \students. \This means that language learners become the center of language teaching . In college English teaching in China , many teachers complain that students lack of motivation, learning the lack of enthusiasm , initiative ; For the learners, there are many factors that affect language learning , such as gender , personal background , motivation , age and attitudes towards learning . Among these factors , the motivation has been used as an important research topic and is considered a key factor for success in learning . Of the survey based on research at home and abroad , to explore the motivation of Chinese non-English majors and their foreign language teaching inspired . The purpose of this study is to investigate the type of Chinese college students learning motivation , motivational intensity , and between urban and rural areas , gender and outstanding students with weaker pupils differences in motivation and relationship analysis to explore learning successful their motivation . Shandong Institute of Technology built the 143 non - English major sophomore participated in the survey , its purpose is to demonstrate the motivation and academic performance are related , and to provide some inspiration and motivation for future research . Questionnaire Reference Gardener motivation test table and the high motivation of a rainbow type scale . Findings with the SPSS statistical software , using descriptive analysis , t - test , correlation analysis and other statistical means analysis . The study obtained the following findings : two aspects of gender girls learning English motivation strength and incentives by parents than boys , learning successful classification of a motive than poor students have stronger motivation most instrumental motivation of the students but larger role in the strength of integrative motivation ; urban and rural students were no significant differences in the motivation strength . On the basis of this study , the paper puts forward some useful suggestions inspire college students English learning motivation , such as creating a good learning environment , and to take effective measures to promote student integrative motivation and intrinsic motivation .
