Abstract


The focus of this article is to discuss how to set up a GIS platform based on the network and implement the relevant functions so as to provide better services to the infrastructure of the modern city information. Before that, the author analyzes the information digitalization technology. This platform is based on both computer network and Java language. Then the author first analyzes the present application situation of the geographic information system. By introducing a couple of development platforms and system modules, the author finally discusses the topic from the view of programming technology.With the development of the technology, human society is stepping into the information society from the post-industry society. The various applications of the advanced technology bring the fundamental change to our life. Today, people’s knowledge of the surroundings and the society has exceeded the boundary. They are calling for the new demand for their environment they live in. GIS was designed to cater to the need for this which is a novel technology that featured with digitalization, systemization and networking. It brings our life richer information, convey wider digital material and broaden our living space.First of all, the article discusses the current development situation of GIS in our country, as well as the potential and trend of it. By focusing on the present situation, the author discusses how to better explorer the application space of the GIS. The author also analyzes the classifications of the GIS technology, the geographic information services, as well as the concept of the conception, the system and the module of the Web service;he discusses the aspects of the Web GIS that superior to the other C/S and single PC. He also adds the article with the introduction of several GIS development tools. Then the author proposes a macro module and system structure of city Web GIS by analyzing how to build a Web GIS service from the angle of the hardware, as well as the network system, the host scale, the calling process of data access. The author also discusses the pros and cons of the structuremodule of the three network GIS. The main outcome of paper:1. Analyzes the problem with the process of geographic information digitalization and the according solutions by acknowledging the fact of the development of WebGIS of our country.2. Discusses the current geographic information technology profoundly, and introduces the various geographic information software platforms and usage of some of the software.3. Describes how to set up the modules of a mid-scale geographic information system services and their differences.4. Designs and implements the module of a city GIS, and makes the experiment on the implementation of the space information Web service technology and the application integration. Describes the whole development process from building the development environment, the service end to client end, etc.
