Abstract


Enterprises in Zhejiang Province were booming over the last more than 10 years when they overcame such difficulties as resource insufficiency and lack of national investment. Since the new century, however, as technology is increasingly becoming an integral element for competition, the insufficient investment on research and development has been a bottleneck that hampered the enterprises from growing. Being aware of this problem, many enterprises in Zhejiang set out to transform enterprise technology strategy so that their technological capabilities could be fostered gradually. However, due to the lack of theoretic tutorials in this respect, some enterprises failed to get right direction on the way of carrying out technology strategy management. Therefore, this study focuses on analyzing the evolution processes of technology strategy in several Zhejiang enterprises, discussing universal models of the evolution processes and their influential factors, and then figuring out key points to the transformation management of enterprise technology strategy.Firstly, beginning with review of literature on development approaches and evolution processes of enterprise technology strategy, this study summarizes some key research concepts, clarifies the research targets, defines the research rationales as well as concludes the evolution mechanism of the research targets and the influential factors. On the basis of the above endeavor, this study then puts forward a conceptual model of the enterprise technology strategy evolution, attempting to provide a frame that describes the situation and development approaches of enterprise technology strategy, and specifies how to transform the enterprise technology strategy, the influential factors and the characteristics and methods of the technology strategy evolution.Secondly, this study chooses three typical companies for case studies, depicting and analyzing evolution approaches and methods of technology strategy in these companies. Based on the results of the case studies, this study makes comparisons among the three companies in terms of the evolution processes of technology strategy, sums up their similarities and disparities, attempts to find out the reasons and therefore turns out the universal regulation for the evolution processes of the enterprise technology strategy.Finally, the main conclusions from the research are drawn with its practical value explained and its expectation for the future made.
