Abstract


In Wei and Jin Period, Metaphysical school, which was the fusion of Confucianism and Taoismunder the special social circumstances of this period, was very popular. In the development ofMetaphysical educational concepts there were three phases. The focus of Metaphysics was to study therelationship between scholasticism and nature. In the course of Metaphysical school’s regulation of thethoughts between scholasticism and nature, Confucianism gradually took on the features ofMetaphysical school. The stresses that the ideologists made were different. In the phase of Zheng-shiMetaphysics, He-Yan and Wang-Bi’s claimed the theory of "cherishing the empty and the void" andstress that scholasticism come from nature. In the phase of Zhu-lin Metaphysics, the thoughts ofYuan-ji and Ji-kang were very radical. They insisted that people should get over scholasticism andpursue nature. During the phase of Yuan-kang Metaphysics, Guo-xiang denied the theory of"cherishing the empty and void" in form, however, they furthered the fusion of Confucianism andTaoism by basing the principles of ideal personality on the "natural theory" of Taoism.Thus, the course of Confucianism’s Metaphysics-regulation was completed. The Metaphysics isa very special and important stage of the development of Chinese traditional culture. It is first time toinsist that education should correspond to the individual’s nature in the history of ancient Chineseeducation.This paper is made up of four parts:Part One is the introduction of the whole paper.Part Two is about the stage during the development of Metaphysics.Part Three is the system of Metaphysics educational thoughts and its traits.Part Four is the Conclusion.
