Abstract

Objective:To evaluate multiple magnetic resonance(MR) imaging techniques in the differentiation of benign and malignant soft tissue tumors by comparing different information from MR Diffusion-Weighted Imaging(MR-DWI),MR Perfusion-Weighted Imaging(MR-PWI) and 1HMR Spectroscopy(1HMRS).Materials and methods:50 cases with histologically and/or bioptically proved soft tissue tumors underwent conventional MR imaging, MR-DWI,and dynamic contrast-enhanced T*2-weighted MR-PWI, 271H proton MR Spectroscopy cases were performed at the same time in 50 cases. All patients were scanned with GE Signa 1.5-T MR scanner by surface coil. The region of interest(ROI) within the largest layer of lesions was positioned on the same area among three modalities.Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values,Blood volume (BV),Blood Flow(BF),Mean Transit Time (MTT) and metabolic parameters among tumoral tissues were compared. Time-intensity Curve(TIC) from MR-PWI can be obtained. We use T Test in 13.0 SPSS software to statistics all parameters.Subjective overall performance of three techniques was evaluated with Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC) analysis.Results:1.There was significant difference between benign and malignant tumoral tissues of BF and ADC value, while BV or MTT is not. TIC was different between benign tumoral tissues (Ib) and malignant tumoral tissues(Ia). When the threshold value of ADC was 1.866×mm2/ s, Sensitivity and specificity for determining malignant tumors were 84.6% , 83.3%.When the threshold value of BF was 4.47 ml·100mg-1·min-1,
