Abstract


Presbyopia is a physiological phenomenon.Whatever its refraction is,everyone will have to face presbyopia. With the aging of our society, the correction of presbyopia is becoming a great challenge. At present the common treatment of presbyopia is monovision.Monovision is the correcting of refractive error so that the distance eye is as close as possible to plano("zero") and to correct the reading or near eye to a myopic target,normally in the range of-1.00 diopter sphere(DS) to -2.00 DS.Its mechanism called interocular blur suppression.The binocular visual acuity is usually slightly reduced, but the brain will gradually adapt this condition , and improve binocular vision finally. The patients with presbyopia will see clearly and comfortably without glasses with monovision. Monovision with CK is a very safe and effective refractive surgery which produces monovision with binocular in presbyopic eyes.And CK is a nonablative,nonincisional technique.The procedure was first used by Mendez and Mendez Noble.High-frequency and low-energy current is delivered through a fine tip inserted into the peripheral corneal stroma.As the current flows through the tissue immediately surrounding the tip,resistance to this energy creates heat.Collagen in the area surrounding the tip shrinks and forms a "circling", then this made the center of cornea become steep and increased dioptric strength, finally
