Abstract


Clay/rubber nanocomposites(NC) prepared by co-coagulating rubber latex and clay aqueous suspension based on pristine clay have good mechanical properties, excellent gas barrier properties and so on. Therefore, these materials can be applied in many rubber products, including inner tube, tire tread and main rubber component for automotive air suspension the potentiality of industrial applications. In this paper, we carried out some related application researches. The results were divided into the following parts: 1. clay/SBR NC reinforced by 20 phr clay and treated by triethanolamine had the same mechanical properties and processing properties as the inner tube materials in factory and the better gas barrier properties than inner tube products; 2. Due to incorporation of small amount (about 2-5 phr) of clay, the flex fatigue life of Carbon black/ SBR NC was dramatically increased and the abrasion resistance was decreased slightly. The mechanical and abrasion resistance of clay/CB/SBR NC were as the same as those of SiO2/CB/SBR NC, but the heat built up of clay/CB/SBR NC was little higher than that of SiO2/CB/SBR NC, all of these provided some informations to the application of clay in field of tire tread; 3. The combined use of clay and carbon black had improved the aging properties of carbon black/clay/natural rubber (NR) NC, which provided some informations to the application of clay in main rubber component for automotive air suspension.Nano-polymeric filler likely became the ideal filler for reinforcing elastomers, due to nano-size, low density, fine dispersion capability, surface activity to form strong interaction and low cost. In this paper, the reinforcing capabilities of two kinds of core-only polymeric fillers—PS and a-Ms—AN nano-filler were studeid in detail. The results indicated that a-Ms—AN/ SBR nanocomposites prepared by latex compounding method showed higher properties, relative to that prepared by melt compounding method; PS nano-filler/SBR NC had the best properties when the amount of crosslink reagent of PS nano-filler was 20%(weight percent of monomer amount) and
