Qikun Xie (A. D. (1737-1802), a style Yunshan(蕴山), assumed name Suqin (苏潭), was a commoner who was born in NanKang County of Jiangxi Provice. He was born of a good-study home, and studied well from childhood. In 1760, he passed the imperial examinations at the provincial level, then he studied from the famous scholar Fanggan Weng, became his student. The next year, he went to the capital again and passed the successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations.
