Mountain resorts has become Chinese major scenic areas in the tourism reception and has played an important role in the development of the tourism industry of our country. Relative to other types of resorts, mountain resorts research is earlier and has more results. At present, domestic scholars’studies about mountain resorts mainly included formation and development, management and systems, landscape, the impact of tourism, tourists acts, tourism market, tourism development and planning, tourism environment and eco-tourism in the study. No author systematically exposited the character and development pattern of mountain resorts. Theoretical study of the evolution of mountain resorts are relatively weak, and is still confined to the tourism life cycle theory, it will limit the management and development of mountain resorts. On the basis of overview of the historical development of researches about the scenic areas evolution, the evolution of resorts chaos theory analysis is made. This research report aims at a more comprehensive summary of the general characteristics of mountain and a relatively new interpretation of the evolution of functional characteristics of mountain resorts, with the application of such course knowledge as geography, tourism studies, management science, history, mathematics, and the use of chaos theory, and empirical analysis of theory and methods.The thesis consists of 5 chapters:Chapter1, General Introduction, is an overview of the historical development of internal research on mountain resorts. It will help to the mountain resorts develop healthily that reveals the general features and the evolution of mountain functions of tourism. Lushan Mountain resorts is typical mountain resorts, but no author studies its characteristics of function evolution systematically. Against such background, the author put forward his object of study and methods of research.
