Abstract


Gardenia Jasminoides Ellis is a Chinese traditional medicine and can be used as both medicine and food that healthy department has firstly promulgated, it contains many different chemical ingredients, Gardenia Yellow is rarely natural water-soluble carotenoid pigment with the features of nontoxic, safe, strong pigmentation, and can be widely used in food pigmentation. The study shows that monomer compounds such as Crocin in Gardenia Yellow has extensive medical effects such as resisting the activity of tumor and reducing flood-fat, and it has become the study hotspot of anti-cancer medicine, thus, exploiting deeply Gardenia resource has important economic value and practice meaning. The works in this paper mainly contained following several aspects:1 In this study we extracted and separated Gardenia yellow pigment and Geniposide from Gardenia fruits. The results of experiment show the optimal extraction condition of Gardenia Yellow: refluxing and extracting three times with 50 percent ethanol in 55℃, water-bath and extracting 4 to 5 hours, Gardenia Yellow extract solution is separated by X-5 absorption resin, and then with 30 percent ethanol, getting Geniposide white crystal, the determining purity by HPLC come to 99.1% and can be used as standard, the part doffing by 70% ethanol can be concentrated to get more pure Gardenia Yellow pigment.2 The present national standard (GB/T5009.149-2003) of the High Performance Liquid Chromatography method for the determination of gardenia yellow pigment was studied. The results testified that the national standard is not reasonable and does not accord with that of international market and the present standard needs to be improved. We suggest to use Crocin-1 as standard sample to determine qualitatively
