Abstract


Urban open green spaces not only play the most important role in the urban green system but they are essential for people to live a better life in cities. However, there has given rise to a general decline due to many complicated reasons, which led to the problem—they can not meet the basic need of modern urban lives. Now it’s necessary to renew the open green spaces and harmonize the open green spaces of old cities with the need of modern lives. Under such condition, probe into the way of renewal is thought to be with great of practical significance and guiding value.After many years’ probe, there has sprung up a great many of successful cases through the practical renovation accumulated affluent experiences and lessons. According to the basic theory, this dissertation applies several ways properly including studies of literature and cases, on-the-spot investigation, comparison and analyse, summarizing and etc., trying to find out valuable experience through analyzing successful cases so that people can grasp the main ways basically and the trend of the current world-wide development of the renovation of the open green spaces, then provide the helpful suggestion about Chinese development.According to above all, firstly, this dissertation illustrates the concept relative to the renewal of the open green spaces in cities. Secondly, find out the three fatal facts (the renewal of cities, environment and need of society) which cause cities to renew open green spaces through the studies of renovation and development of cities. Thirdly, with topical cases about the six aspects: the renewals of the spaces, behavior re-lead, figure redesign, the temporary renewal, adjusting plants’ appearance and renewal of public facilities the writer summarizes the main ways of renewal both home and abroad, analyses the experience from topical successful cases, discusses the four new trends nowadays that more attention has been put on the addition of spaces, the varieties of functions, combination of design and new art and the various methods of designation. Finally, the writer sets forth his views on the current renewal and development of Chinese by renewal systematization, establishing and perfecting the early renewal program, renewing the way of living which adopt to the social public lives, strengthening the concept of admiring history, treating renewal of plants environment properly, in order to make contributions to the practical renewal in China in the future.
