Abstract


With the rise of cognitive linguistics, metaphor understanding of the role of starting to get back. In the traditional rhetoric, metaphor is just a figure of speech is taken to look at. And in the emerging cognitive linguistics, metaphor has occupied an important position: it is treated as an important tool to help us understand better understand the world, it is so important that we live in a metaphors. This article from the perspective of cognitive linguistics love both English and Chinese Metaphors comparative study is aimed at from the perspective of both English and Chinese culture to support modern cognitive theory of metaphor. The traditional view of the metaphor as a linguistic phenomenon. As a special group of figurative language or form of expression, its meaning can be simplified to a certain set of literal proposition. This view can be traced back to Aristotle, he was used to define the departure from the plain language of metaphor. \According to this theory, in essence, the main metaphor is seen as decorative. As a result, it was known to be a metaphor of speech, and its study is limited to the literary and rhetorical aspects (Lakoff, 1986). For the interpretation of metaphor, currently there are several main theories: To compare the theory, alternative theories and interaction theory. The rise of cognitive linguistics to explain the nature of metaphor offers a new vision. According to the founder of Cognitive Linguistics Lakoff and Johnson's view (1980), metaphor in language and thought are ubiquitous, and occupy an important position, can be seen as a way of thinking. Inevitable human conceptual system constituted by a metaphor in human thought and cognition-depth work, but also in everyday life in a systematic way there. In order to reveal the love of the conceptual system, the paper surveys a number of informative English love metaphor, through analysis and comparison found that the English have a common love metaphor conceptual system, both through the \\However, differences also exist. In \This study confirms the view Lakoff: metaphor is ubiquitous, its human understanding abstract things, understanding the objective world and talk to play an important role, and also in line with the formation of metaphor is based on their own experience of on the theory. Can be seen by studying Christianity, individualism and material life and money on a strong influence on the importance of love in the English language conceptualization; while traditional Chinese theory of yin and yang, Confucianism, and collectivism are on Chinese language in the formation of the concept of love has a profound impact.
