Abstract


Objective:To study the effect of modified citrus pectin on lipid peroxidation in hyperlipidemia rats.Methods:Seventy-five common SD rats (180~200g) were divided randomly into five groups according to the weight,each group had fifteen rats .The groups were divided as normal control group,model control group,low dosage of modified citrus pectin group,moderate dosage of modified citrus pectin group,and high dosage of modified citrus pectin group.The normal control group was fed on normal feed and was administrated with distilled water .The model control group was fed on high-lipid-fodder and was administrated with distilled water. High-lipid-fodder was constituted of 10 percentage lard and 10 percentage yolk power and 78.8 percentage normal feed and 0.2 percentage bile salt and lpercentage cholesterol. Low dosage of modified citrus pectin group was fed on high-lipid-fodder and was administrated with MCP at the dosage of 100mg/kg.d.. Moderate dosage of modified citrus pectin groupwas administrated with MCP at the dosage of 400mg/kg.d.. High dosage of modified citrus pectin group was administrated with MCP at the dosage of 800mg/kg.d.. Total cholesterol(TC) and triglyceride (TG)were meared before the experiment and in the sixth week of the experiment.Superoxid-dismutase(SOD),glutathione-peroxidase(GSH-Px), malondehyde(MDA) were measured in the third week and in the sixth week. .The experiment lasted six weeks. Results:1. establishment of hyperlipidemia model:Before the experiment,the level of total cholesterol and triglyceride was almost the same beteen every group.After the experiment, the model control group was significantly higher than other groups.This indicated that the model was successful.2.the effect on experimental rats’weight: At the beginning of the experiment and in the first week,there was not significantly difference among the rats.In the second week ,the third week and the fourth week,the normal control group and the model control group had significant differernce(p<0.05). Low dosage of modified citrus pectin group,moderate dosage of modified citrus pectin group,and high dosage of modified citrus pectin group had significant difference with normal control group(p<0.05).In the fifth week and the sixth week, the normal control group and the model control group had significant differernce(p<0.05). Low dosage of modified citrus pectin group,moderate dosage of modifiedcitrus pectin group,and high dosage of modified citrus pectin group had significant difference with normal control group(p<0.05).High dosage of modified citrus pectin group was significantly different with the model control group(p<0.05).3.The effect on experiment rats’SOD:the activity of the model control group ’s SOD was observably lower than the normal control group(p<0.05) The activity of low dosage of modified citrus pectin group,moderate dosage of modified citrus pectin group,and high dosage of modified citrus pectin group’SOD was significantly higher than model control group(p<0.05).4.The effect on experiment rats’GSH-Px: the activity of the model control group ’s GSH-Px was observably lower than the normal control group(p<0.05). The activity of low dosage of modified citrus pectin group,moderate dosage of modified citrus pectin group,and high dosage of modified citrus pectin group’ GSH-Px was significantly higher than model control group(p<0.05).5. The effect on experiment rats’MDA:The model control group’s MDA was siginificantly higher than normal control group(p<0.05).The low dosage of modified citrus pectin group,moderate dosage of modified citrus pectin group,and high dosage of modified citrus pectin group’s MDA was siginificantly higher than model control group(p<0.05). Conclusion:1. High doasage of modified citrus pectin has significant effect on lowering rats’weight.2. Modified citrus pectin has significant effect on antioxidatiom. Modified citrus pectin has significant effect on heightening SOD,GSH-Px,and lowering MDA.
