Abstract

With the development of computer technique and information industry, CAD technique and parametric technique are widely used in mechanical field. The development of parametric CAD system is the trend of digital and information producing in the enterprise. At present, escalator is extensively applied in public places, but designing escalator is a perplexing and iterative process because of its complicated structure. The paper expounds the techniques of building a parametric design system of escalator based on Pro/E. This system improves designing quality and efficiency, simultaneously this paper has also made the structure analysis and the optimum design to the truss of escalator. This paper firstly according to enterprise’s actual situation and escalator’s production characteristic, used programming tools PRO/TOOKIT of PRO/E to develop the user operation surface, then carries on the three dimensional parametric design to all parts of escalator. This system can not only do 2D,3D parametric design, accurately output BOM and other information files, but also educe duplication of a large number of design work, improve the products customized and the speed of the product design, and improve production efficiency.Secondly, In view of complex structure and the changeable characteristic of escalator’s truss, utilizes VB, APDL and the ANSYS to establishment truss’s finite element model, realizes automation of building the truss finite element model, reduces massive redundant work time. The last but not the least, the result of the structure under load is got by static analysis. it provides the optimization analysis by using the ANSYS’s advanced structure analysis function. The volume of structure is set as an objective variable and the section parameters are set as design variables. The max deformation and the max stress are set as state variables. In addition, by integrating the results of optimization and the standards of steel materials, it provides the most suitable section form.
