Abstract


Speaking of modern imaging technology, it is not only the traditional optical imaging (just taking a picture); to a large extent, it is a process of digital imaging. Development of the digital technology exerts influences directly on the renovation of art forms. In other words, it is just the renovation of the new 21-century.In China, the modern art is developing in diversifications. As expression of art, the imaging art has developed into multi-forms. What will be discussed in this article is the development of imaging technology, which consists of the following contents: the definition of imaging art, the attribute of imaging art as an intermedium, the social definition and the manifestation.Imaging technology originally developed from western civilization. It can never shed off the "destiny" as a means from the ever beginning to the modern industrial society, however in the way of optical machinery or the digital devices and equipment. Printing technology changed its function and made it an intermedium. Characteristic of art is reflected in diversified varieties, which made it possible for imaging technology, the tools of intermedium, to be the expression of art, also resulting the theoretical definitions of the modern art.
