Abstract


Courtesy is the universal language, common culture phenomenon. It plays an important role in interpersonal, it helps to establish, maintain and consolidate harmonious interpersonal relationships, and promote social interaction. Courtesy is an observed social phenomenon. But it is only a surface phenomenon, specific cultural values ??in the language of refraction. Therefore, in recognition of the universality of politeness at the same time, we must also recognize that the cultural characteristics of courtesy, that is, due to the impact of cultural values, polite way, and people are used to determine the standard of the courtesy due to cultural and are different. Explore courtesy, we must take into account the cultural characteristics of polite, only to go into the deep culture, we can, through appearance, reveals the essential characteristics of the courtesy to explain cross-cultural differences. In view of this, the paper aims to cross-cultural study of Politeness, explore the cultural differences between them, in order to improve cross-cultural awareness and promote English-Chinese cross-cultural communication. The text is divided into four chapters, before and after the introduction and conclusion. The INTRODUCTION section describes the definition of courtesy, the significance of this study and its writing structure. The first chapter reviews the achievements of Chinese and foreign scholars on politeness research, introduces three politeness theory - Leach politeness principle, Brown and Levinson's face theory, and Gu said the country's Chinese politeness principle. This chapter provides a theoretical framework for the full text of writing. The second chapter explores the close relationship between politeness phenomena and cultural values. Controlled English-Chinese cultural value orientation, the authors believe that the characteristics of Politeness essentially different: the English politeness is characterized by \Chapter Chapter II on the basis of theoretical analysis of cross-cultural phenomenon Politeness, courtesy of real communication.
