Along with social progress and development, the world, exchanges and cooperation between different ethnic groups is growing. Foreign language as a communication tool in modern social life plays an important role. In order to successfully achieve the communicative purpose, not only to those who speak foreign languages ??with a strong knowledge of foreign languages, but also to have Pragmatic Competence. Obviously, the English teacher's role is to develop the students' ability to communicate in English, and as English teaching goals. But in cross-cultural communication the existence of such students, as pragmatic failure. Recalling the development of foreign language teaching, we can see that people put too much focus on training and developing language skills, and at the expense of students' pragmatic ability. This is reflected in the students' comprehensive language ability, that is, language ability and pragmatic competence development is uneven, the student can say only grammatical rules of the sentence, but in a real communication can not achieve the intended purpose, resulting in pragmatics turnovers. Pragmatic Failure in Intercultural Communication has become pragmatics and applied linguistics research is an important area. Pragmatic Failure comes from J.Thomas (1983) article Cross-cultural Pragmatic Failure. She believes that pragmatic failure is due to not able to understand the speaker's intentions caused. G.Leech (1983) that \friendship, and even rude. This article from the pragmatic point of view, from the voice, vocabulary, syntax, discourse, speech acts, and other aspects of cultural differences to describe and explain the pragmatic failure. Analysis of Pragmatic Failure causes and proposed to increase the ability of some of the students' pragmatic approach aimed at overcoming pragmatic failure, for successful communication, so as to achieve the purpose of teaching English. Thesis consists of five chapters The first chapter introduces the purpose and college English teaching English teaching in China the status quo, that the college English learners pragmatic failure phenomenon. The second chapter reviews the pragmatic failures at home and abroad and Pragmatic Competence research, review the definition of pragmatic failures, research methods and its causes, as well as the definition of pragmatic competence, the need to develop pragmatic competence. Chapter III of the existing research on the basis of pragmatic failure, from the pronunciation, vocabulary, syntax, word articles, and other aspects of speech acts on pragmatic failure were analyzed. Chapter V Conclusion, students' pragmatic competence in college English teaching should be students are currently learning content and practical application linked to mobilize the enthusiasm of students, to develop good learning approach to promoting the improvement of communication skills. Teachers should improve their pragmatic awareness in order to meet the needs of students.
