Abstract

Chinese students learn English most from the beginning of the first year of junior high school English classes began in recent years in some primary schools. In the traditional high school English learning process, teachers focus on teaching the learning of language knowledge, too much emphasis on speaking and training of words, sentences, syntax rules of the language, cultural knowledge or lack of knowledge about, or think that cultural knowledge to learn the language and improve test scores, it is often intentionally or unintentionally be ignored. Especially at the junior secondary level, cultural teaching was not considered necessary can not be carried out. This leads to the vast majority of students to complete three years of junior secondary and even after three years of high school English learning head full of words and phrases, still can not throw you a complete and fluent sentences; has full use of new textbooks in the high school English today, due to the above reasons, although usually pay attention to listening, speaking training, students are able to use the vocabulary learned a simple exchange, but due to a lack of understanding of the language differences, cultural differences, so that the improper use of language communication series turnovers. The theoretical study of foreign language teaching, foreign language teaching is both a master basic language skills, but also an understanding of the target language culture, improve quality, and expand ways of thinking process. Learning a foreign language it is necessary to understand the culture of the country of the target language; just learn the language, rather than about the survival of the culture will never master the language well. Foreign Language Education has a strong humanities. Therefore, I believe from the start to learn English at the same time should be unified language teaching and culture teaching, so that students understand the English culture in the various forms of multi-angle and in order to enrich and improve English teaching, thereby enhancing the cultural awareness for students intercultural communicative competence in higher stages of learning English to improve and lay a solid foundation. Is divided into six chapters: The first chapter briefly junior secondary level to carry out the cultural importance of teaching and feasibility, the status of teaching junior high school English culture, especially the problems, and the text of the framework. Chapter II first revealed intrinsically linked to language and culture are inextricably theory and basis: also pointed out that the cross-cultural communication is the most important cultural differences lead to language differences, language differences and value differences, resulting in cross-cultural communication blunders. Then a comparative study of cultural differences, the four groups of the mainstream of Sino-US cultural patterns were compared. Chapter 3 presents the junior high school English culture teaching objectives and direction and content and principles. The fifth chapter describes the requirements for teachers of junior high school teaching of English culture.
