This dissertation is composed of three chapters, including studies on chemical constituents of Kopsia officinalis and Flemingia macrophylla and the HPLC fingerprints of Radix Flemingia.The first chapter focuses on the chemical constituents of K. officinalis, with traditional phytochemical separation and analysis method, we got 14 compounds from K. officinalis, five of which are indole alkaloids including a new compound: methyl 5-oxo-chanofruticosinate,and some triterpenoids and steroids. Research revealed that methyl chanofruticosinate, methyl de-methoxycarbonylchanofruticosinate and methyl 11,12-methylenedioxychanofruticosinate have weak anti-HIV-1 activity. The triterpenoid oleanane derivatives may be the active compounds for anti-tumor, anti-inflammation, liver-protection and anti-microbe activities.The second chapter reports the chemical constituents study on F. macrophylla, 11 compounds were gained from F. macrophylla, among of which, four compounds are isoflavones, three are flavanones , one is flavanol. These compounds are genistein, 5, 7,3’, 4’-tetrahydroxyisoflavone, 5, 7, 4’-trihydroxyisoflavone-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, 5, 7,4’-trihydroxy-8,3’-diprenylflavanone, 5, 7,4’-trihydroxy-6-prenylisoflavone, flemichin D, lespedezaflavanone A and ouratea-catechin. Genistein and its isoflavones analogs are thought to be main pharmaceutical active constituents of F. macrophylla,their activities demonstrated in the treatments of breast and prostate cancers, cardiovascular disease and post-menopausal ailments.The third chapter presents the study on HPLC fingerprints of Radix Flemingia. With HPLC analyzing of 13 samples of Radix Flemingia from different locations, we analysed the HPLC fingerprints and selected 12 common peaks as the characteristic peaks of Radix Flemingia. The study indicated that genistein and its isoflavones analogs could be used as standard compounds in the quality control of Radix Flemingia. The criterion of Radix Flemingia was established.
