Abstract


Objective: To investigate expression of transforming growth factorbeta (TGF-β) and transforming growth interacting factor (TGIF) inendometrosis. TO explore the role of TGF-βand TGIF in the pathogenesisof endometriosis.Methods: Immunohistochemistry method was used to detect theexpression of TGF-βand TGIF in the ectopic and eutopic endometriumof 30 cases with endometriosis (ectopic endometrium group and eutopicendometrium group) and in the normal endometrium of 40 cases withoutendometriosis (control group).Result:(1) Expressions of TGF-βprotein is main fixed in stromal cell ofendometrium. Most of the expression of TGF-βin ectopic endometrium groupwas high positive, and it was puny in eutopic endometriumgroup and controlgroup. The expression of TGF-βin ectopic endometrium group wassignificantly higher than that in eutopic endometrium group and controlgroup(P＜0.05). There was no significant differentce in the expression ofTGF-βbetween eutopic endometrium group and control group, (P＞0.05)(2)Expressions of TGIF protein is main fixed in stromal cell ofendometrium. Most of the expression of TGIF in ectopic endometrium groupwas puny, and it was high positive in eutopic endometriumgroup and controlgroup. The expression of TGIF in ectopic endometrium group issignificantly lower than that in eutopic endometrium group and controlgroup(P＜0.05). There was no significant differentce in the expressionof TGIF between eutopic endometrium group and control group, (P＞0.05). (3)There were negative correlateion between the expressions ofTGF-βand TGIF in ectopic endometrium group and eutopic endometrium group, (r=-0.769, p＜0.05; r=-0.949, p＜0.05). (4). There was no significantdifferentce in the expression of TGF-βand TGIF between prolixferative andsecretory phase,(P＞0.05).Conclusion:(1) The expression of TGF-βin ectopic endometrium is significantlyhigher than that in eutopic and normal endometrium. TGF-βmayplay a role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.(2) The expressions of TGF-βand TGIF being negative correlateon suggestthat increasing the expression of TGIF might inhibit the expressionsof TGF-βto treat endometriosis.(3) There is no significant differentce in the expressions of TGF-βandTGIF between prolixferative and secretory phase.They can not beinfluenced by female hormone.
