Product structure design is a very pivotal activity in early product life cycle, itturn the nonobjective and blurry design concept into idiographic and specific entitystructure. Product structure design not only integrate with knowledge which comefrom different aspects, such as, cost, capability, environment elements, physics,mathematic, experience and so on, but also has complicated process which needsmodification and trial-manufacture for many times before designing a eligibleproduct structure. This dissertation makes the press dies as the research object, andapplies the theory of polychromatic sets, researches the modeling and analysis of thepress dies structure design by researching the method and the technique of theproduct structure design, and establishes a mathematic model based thepolychromatic sets to simulated the press dies structure design.The main research work of this dissertation as the following:Firstly, after the model and the method of the product structure based on thepolychromatic sets is studied, then some design flow and the character of productstructure based on the polychromatic sets is analyzed. After analyzing the function,action and carrier of the product, and bringing to bear the contour matrix, individualcolor, unified color, restriction associated chart and polychromatic graph of thepolychromatic set and so on, to achieve the modeling of the product structure design.Secondly, the method of the product structure design based on thepolychromatic sets is applied in the practice of the press dies structure design. And ittake the simplex working procedure press dies and complex press dies as theexample, the solution of the product structure design based on the polychromaticsets is discussed detailed.Thirdly, by applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process, the obtained feasibilityschemes of the press dies are optimized, and the educed optimization scheme is thebase of the detailed design later.Finally, a prototype system according to the model of product structure designand optimization based on the polychromatic sets is designed, which combine withTFLEX CAD software, and they constructed a system of press dies structure scheme design, it validate the exploitation flow of the product structure design, systemstructure and the partition of the subsystem. And it approved this method is feasible,convenient and intellective for the press dies structure design.The research work of this dissertation provides a new method of the press diesstructure design and a new thought of the product structure design.
