Abstract

The main work of this thesis is about the combination of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) security and game theory approach. Due to the characteristic of MANET, it is confronted with many security challenges which varies from hardware foundations, software threaten, to cooperation and interaction with internal members.. In the MANET, the interaction between insiders has a strong relationship with sociology, and economics. Although many security models can be transplanted into wireless networks, this kind of transplant needs a clear and systematical mathematical analyze. Game theory is a ma-thematic branch solving decision making issues. In recently years, game theory has be-come an important research tool which is useful for the researchers to design MANET network security protocols. Game theory has already been applied into the incentive mechanism design in peer to peer network, as well as channel collisions in wireless networks.. And the research is now moving to the domain of security in MANET, and becomes more and more prevalent. In this paper, we firstly introduce the security issues in MANET in chapter 2. Then we give a brief introduction of game theory knowledge. After that, we describe the fundamental introduction of application of game theory in MAENT security. In chapter 4, we utilize game theory and design a multi-level and on demand surveillance mechanism for MANET. Then, based on the surveillance mechan-ism, we also proposed a reverse hash chain based receipt mechanism to stimulate inter-mediate node to cooperate in the packet forwarding stage. The performance of the pro-posed mechanism is analysis by using game theory, and the best strategy of the network manager is given. At last, we introduce mechanism design which is a branch of game theory into MAENT routing protocol, and analyze the performance of this new routing protocol. The surveillance mechanism and secure routing protocol proposed in this the-sis introduce a new approach to enforce MANET security problems and incentive com-patible problem. This kind of research has a broad prospect.
