Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study is to establish a three-dimensional finite element model for micro-implant-bone and to analyze the influence of different direction of force and different height of thread on the biomechanical characteristics of micro-implant-bone interface.Method: Using the commercial code of SOLIDWORKS and ANSYSworkbench software, the three-dimensional finite element models of micro-implant-bone complex were built up to analyze the influence of different direction of force and different height of thread on the biomechanical characteristics of micro-implant-bone interface.Result: A simulated orthodontic force which was 150 grams with five directions was applied to the head of micro-implant,that is, referring to the axis of micro-implant and starting from the head of micro-implant 0 degree、30 degree、45 degree、60 degree and 90 degree. On all the conditions, the Von-Mises and the displacement were focused on the cervix of the micro-implant. The Von-Mises and the displacement were very small. As the angle increased ,the maximum Von-Miser stress at the cervix of the implants were 0.612Mpa、3.118Mpa、4.103Mpa、4.809Mpa、5.159Mpa. the maximum displacement at the cervix of the implants were0.695μm、0.126μm、0.137μm、0.142μm、0.158μm .Using ANSYSworkbench the three-dimensional finite element modeling of the micro-implants-bone complexs were established by put the height of threaded implant as (0.1mm、0.15mm、0.2mm、0.25mm、0.3mm、0.35mm). On all the conditions , the Von-Mises and the displacement were focused on the cervix of the micro-implant.The Von-Mises and the displacement were very small. As the height of thread increased, the maximum Von-Miser stress at the cervix of the implants were 4.988Mpa、5.075Mpa、4.809Mpa、5.399Mpa、5.428Mpa、6.271Mpa, the maximum displacement at the cervix of the implants were 0.157μm、0.154μm、0.142μm、0.147μm、0.153μm、0.167μm .The height of the threaded implant as 0.2mm has the minimum stress and displacement. Conclusion: On all the conditions, the maximum Von-Miser stress and the maximum displacement were focused on the cervix of the micro-implant The Von-Mises stress and the displacement were mainly focused on the cortical bone. The maximum Von-Miser stress and the displacement were very small. The micro-implant can safely loaded with 150g force in different directions, especially the one in smaller angle. Different height of thread can have influence on the Von-Mises stress and the displacement on the cervix of the micro-implant .The height of threaded implant as 0.2mm has the minimum stress and displacement.
