Abstract


Objective To analyze the calm breathing and the modified Valsalva breath-hold method spiral CT scan of the display of hypopharyngeal and surrounding anatomical structures , to modified Valsalva breath-hold method to explore the diagnostic value of hypopharyngeal cancer . Materials and Methods 22 cases diagnosed hypopharyngeal cancer patients were calm breathing and the modified Valsalva breath-hold method of spiral CT enhanced scan analysis of the two methods of display on of hypopharyngeal its surrounding anatomical structures and tumor staging results were compared with clinical pathological results . Results improved Valsalva breath-hold method and calm breathing compared to the CT scan , the piriform fossa excellent in 18 cases , the posterior pharyngeal wall display excellent in 12 cases , excellent in 11 cases of laryngeal vestibule , display excellent tumor boundary 15 cases , 10 cases of laryngeal room display poor P value of less than 0.05 , the difference was statistically significant , the ring after excellent in five cases , P> 0.05 , the difference was not statistically significant . The the modified Valsalva breath-hold method of tumor staging accuracy of 90 % , the calm breathing CT scan of the tumor staging accuracy was 64 % (P <0.05) , the difference was statistically significant . Conclusion The modified Valsalva breath-hold method CT scan of the pyriform sinus , posterior pharyngeal , laryngeal vestibule , the tumor boundary effects, good in the quiet breathing of the CT scan , the display of the throat room quiet breathing CT image of the ring after the display both undifferentiated ; higher than the modified Valsalva breath-hold method CT scan accuracy of tumor staging CT scan calm breathing .
