Abstract


The key to preventing nuclear proliferation is to prevent the proliferation of fissile material for nuclear weapons and related technology . HEU ( Highly Enriched Uranium , HEU ) nuclear material nuclear non-proliferation system monitoring objects , determination of their age can be used to determine whether the activities of the new production of HEU can also be intercepted illegal trade in nuclear materials traceability . Therefore, the measurement of the age of the uranium sample has important practical value . This article outlines the basic principles of the uranium sample age measurement , the uranium sample age measurement methods and the research status . The paper focuses on the principle of gamma spectroscopy measurements of uranium age , measurement methods and measuring devices , detailing the relative efficiency of self - calibration method of determination 234 U / 235 U, 235 U / 238 U and 214 < / sup > Bi / 238 < / sup > U activity ratios of the basic principles and application . Relative efficiency since the measurement from the sample physical form and geometry restrictions scale technology makes uranium age , nor need for system efficiency calibration with a standard sample , the actual application is fast and convenient . Two different physical and chemical forms of HEU age of the sample was determined experimentally , to obtain a better result . Uranyl nitrate sample measurement of uranium age ( 18.0 ± 0.7 ) years , with the relative deviation of the actual age of the sample was -4.8 % ; on U 3 O 8 < / sub > powder sample measurement results ( 27.3 ± 0.8 ) years , is in good agreement with the results of other methods of measurement . Age measurement error preliminary analysis and calculation , and mass spectrometry 234 < / sup > U / 235 < / sup > U 235 < / sup > U / < sup> 238 U value , the main source of the measured uranium ages of error and contribution . The study found : the gamma spectroscopy the measurement 234 < / sup > U / 235 < / sup > U activity ratio errors affect the final age of the main source of measurement error , the measurement process of the uranium Age exist the error led to the age of uranium samples measured data systematically too small . In the last article , gamma spectroscopy for measuring uranium age further experimental study of the work of the suggestions and comments.
