Abstract

The item“New staff”in this paper refers to the knowledge-based staff whose career time between 1-3 years, their occupational stability is poor and active turnover rate is high, which is contrasted to the requirement of primal career development. To reconcile contradictions and help new employee’s career development, the article tries to longitudinally explore their existed career path which is relative with employment separation behavior, expecting to find and solve problems. This paper adopts questionnaires to investigate new employees’ career path changing information, company’s career path system designing information, new employee’s career exploration information and new employee’s professional capability constructing information. Based on statistical analysis, the study finally extracts two factors which new employees should pay close attention to: reduce the times of path changing and improve the path changing relevancy. In one’s primary career development in the 3 years, path changing frequency limited 1 to 2 times is preferred. If one must change the path, high correlation job types, which can ensure path changing belong to the same series, are welcomed. Meanwhile new employees should focus on their own career exploration, vocational ability construction information, because these two aspects have significantly influences on both path changing frequency and path changing the correlation. Finally the study make a new staff oriented career path management strategy.
